SpringCM, the leading document and contract lifecycle management platform in the cloud, was named a silver winner at this year’s Golden Trumpet Awards by Publicity Club of Chicago in the “Viral Campaigns” category. SpringCM took home the award for its #BenioffMeetJames campaign that launched in late 2017.
SpringCM’s multimedia campaign aimed to elevate the company’s brand and personality going into the weeks leading up to Dreamforce, the largest software conference in the world. With some of the most innovative companies in the world attending this annual event, it’s especially challenging to stand out among the crowd. The marketing team at SpringCM challenged themselves to come up with an impressive social media campaign that would drive the company’s event presence to a new level.
The campaign was centered around SpringCM’s digital media producer, James Serra, and featured the hashtag #BenioffMeetJames. James expressed admiration for Marc Benioff for his philanthropic work, and set out on a personal journey to meet and take a selfie with Benioff at the event. SpringCM released a series of Tweets for the campaign, and every time someone tweeted or retweeted the hashtag #BenioffMeetJames, SpringCM donated $1 to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.
The campaign, which included social media, video, blog and email elements, garnered more than 2,200 engagements and raised $10,000 for the Children’s Hospital. The hashtag was used more than 800 times, and one of the videos alone received 15,700 impressions and more than 500 engagements on Twitter.
“At SpringCM, we value every individual’s ideas and encourage collaboration across teams,” said Will Wiegler, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of SpringCM. “The success of this campaign wouldn’t have been possible without the creativity and moxie of SpringCM’s entire marketing team, and support and participation across the company.”
Since 1959, The Publicity Club of Chicago has sponsored the Golden Trumpet Awards, which honors companies and individuals in Chicago for excellence in planning, creativity and execution of marketing, PR and communications projects.
The campaign was the brainchild of Brooke Glynn, senior director of design and brand at SpringCM, who led the campaign’s creative direction efforts. Serra, who was the personality of the campaign, also played a large role in the development and execution on social media and video production. Other SpringCM employees co-starred with James in the videos, including CEO Dan Dal Degan, CRO Karry Kleeman, President and COO Greg Buchholz, CMO Will Wiegler, customer marketing manager Kristi Cox, customer success manager Katie Lameti and marketing events manager Deana Ward — truly exemplifying a collaborative effort.
“This was a fun campaign to work on and I appreciate the creative freedom and support from my broader team at SpringCM,” said Serra. “I love that we were raising money for a good cause, while also elevating the company brand and having fun doing it.”
