Dan Carmel

Dan Carmel, CEO

Dan Carmel brings more than 20 years of executive leadership experience to SpringCM. Prior to joining SpringCM, Dan was an executive in residence at Foundation Capital, a leading Silicon Valley venture capital firm. Before joining Foundation Capital, Dan served as president and CEO of Itemfield, which was acquired by Informatica in 2005. Earlier, he served as vice president and general manager of the legal / professional services business unit for Interwoven, one of the leaders in the enterprise content management (ECM) market. Dan joined Interwoven as part of the successful merger between Interwoven and iManage, where he was vice president of marketing and business development.

Dan's career includes executive positions at several start-ups where he was instrumental in guiding new ventures to become market leaders in CRM (Vantive), Internet commerce (Selectica) and international payments (Sonnet Financial).

Dan holds a BS and MS in mechanical engineering and applied mechanics from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Greg Buchholz

Greg Buchholz, Founder and COO

Greg Buchholz provides extensive leadership to SpringCM, which he co-founded in 2005. Greg founded and managed Court Capital, Inc. and brings nine years of experience from his time as a vice president at Goldman, Sachs & Co. He has also served as a CPA for Coopers & Lybrand in Chicago.

Greg holds a BS from Indiana University and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Phil Beckman

Phil Beckman, VP, Research and Development

Phil Beckman brings more than 20 years experience in programming, systems analysis, engineering, product design and development to SpringCM.

Before joining SpringCM, Phil served as director of software development at Open Text Corp. During his 11-year tenure at Open Text, Phil was a senior-level technical architect during the conversion from a client server-based document management product to an Internet-based content management system. Under Phil's technical guidance, this content management system was Open Text's flagship product for more than 10 years. Prior to Open Text, Phil was responsible for managing software development at Odesta Systems Corp. and held key positions at Baxter Healthcare Corp. and Brock Software Products.

Phil holds a BS in electronic engineering from the University of Dayton.

Dick Hoffmann

Dick Hoffmann, VP, Business Development and Strategic Alliances

Dick Hoffmann comes to SpringCM with more than 25 years of leadership experience in domestic and international sales channel development, alliance development, team collaboration and workforce optimization. Dick and his teams have consistently delivered measurable performance, growth, differentiation and innovation in both market-leading and start-up companies including Documentum, IBM, Informix Software, AST Research, AllianceVista Corporation, Reachcast Corporation and Rapt.

Dick also served as vice chairman for the Association of Strategic Alliance Professionals’ (ASAP) global board of directors from 2001 to 2004. In addition to his business collaboration expertise, Dick’s technical specialties include 16 years of selling enterprise solutions ranging from business intelligence, data warehousing, enterprise data integration, Web-based collaboration, document management and knowledge management.

Dick holds a BA in computer science from the University of Missouri, Columbia.

Steve Maier

Steve Maier, VP and General Manager, Government Solutions Division

Steve Maier brings extensive and unparalleled government contractor expertise to SpringCM. Prior to heading the SpringCM Government Solutions Division, Steve served as VP of Strategic Partner Development for Novell where he focused on developing business relationships with top-tier consulting and systems integration organizations. Steve previously worked at Pearson Government Solutions as VP for Homeland Security. In this position, Steve oversaw the Transportation and Safety Administration (TSA) recruiting program. Before joining Pearson, he held senior management positions with several leading technology companies including US Internetworking and Sybase.

Steve holds a BS in computer and information science from the University of Michigan and an MS in computer science from Johns Hopkins University.

Jeff Piper

Jeff Piper, Founder and VP, Professional Services and Partner Development

Jeff Piper comes to SpringCM with more than 19 years of practical experience, including serving as general manager of iFlourish.com, four years with the MBA Enterprise Corp., eight years as a business process consultant for Payco American Corp. and also founding and serving as president of New World Comfort, one of the first foreign-owned furniture manufacturing companies in Poland.

Chris Ryan

Chris Ryan, VP, Marketing

Chris Ryan joins SpringCM after serving as chief marketing officer at Inmon Data Systems (IDS), where he was responsible for all aspects of branding, alliances, product marketing and sales development. Prior to IDS, Chris was vice president of marketing for Stellent, Inc., one of the world's leading suppliers of ECM software and services, and Optika, an ECM company specializing in document management, imaging and workflow. Chris previously held senior marketing positions at PeopleSoft, Sybase and Group 1 Software.

For the past three years, Chris has served on the board of directors for AIIM, an ECM association, and is a frequent speaker at technology and content management conferences. He is the author of three leading books on marketing and information technology. Chris' career has included numerous innovative marketing campaigns and dozens of successful product launches.

Chris holds a BSBA in marketing from Thomas Edison College and attended graduate school at Marymount University.

Frank Skubal

Frank Skubal, VP, Sales

Frank Skubal joins SpringCM after successfully building Xythos Software's sales organization and initiating focused sales efforts in commercial, higher education and federal markets. Frank's prior executive leadership experience includes Interwoven Inc., an established leader in the ECM industry. At Interwoven, Frank served in a number of senior leadership roles, including as vice president of worldwide alliances where he grew channel-driven revenues by 400 percent and established the company as the preferred ECM vendor with the world's leading systems integrators. Frank also served as vice president of enterprise accounts and strategic alliances. He has held sales management positions with Verity (Autonomy) and FileNet.

Schalk Theron

Schalk Theron, VP, Operations

Schalk Theron brings over 18 years of experience in the information technology industry to his position at SpringCM, which encompasses extensive leadership across all functional areas of the technology environment. Prior to joining SpringCM, Schalk served as first vice president at Washington Mutual, leading its operational support for over 50,000 users and a national network of over 3000 sites and multiple enterprise-class data centers supporting the award-winning Wamu.com. Throughout his career, Schalk has developed highly effective operations systems and procedures in demanding financial services environments.

Schalk is an avid student of business process management and information service management - in the latter he has earned a master's certification in Information Technology Information Library (ITIL) and Six Sigma champion status.

Schalk holds a BS in electrical engineering from the Vaal University of Technology in South Africa.

Jeffrey R. Beir, General Partner - North Bridge Venture Partners

Jeffrey Beir joined North Bridge Venture Partners in 2004, having been an entrepreneur and CEO in the software industry. Jeffrey is on the Board of Directors of other leading SaaS companies including Awareness Networks, Bungee Labs, Newforma and SupplyScape. For more than two decades, Jeffrey has built world-class product teams, created market-leading products and leveraged technology transitions to create market value. Jeffrey was most recently EVP of Products for Documentum, a division of EMC, where he was responsible for the planning, engineering and delivery of their enterprise content management, collaboration and compliance solutions.

Jeffrey was the co-founder and CEO of eRoom Technology which was acquired by Documentum/EMC in December 2002. The acquisition was the largest private software transaction in 2002 with a deal value in excess of $200M. At eRoom, Jeffrey spearheaded the design, development, marketing and sales of the company's award-winning, extended enterprise collaboration solutions and grew the company from a PowerPoint presentation into a market leader in the collaboration category with more than 1,000 customers. In 2003, Jeffrey was recognized by Ernst & Young as Entrepreneur of the Year in New England for Information Technology for his efforts at eRoom.

Prior to eRoom, Jeffrey was Senior Vice President of Applications at Lotus Development Corporation, where he led the desktop applications organization and held several other executive management and marketing positions. Prior to Lotus, Jeffrey held engineering positions at IBM and Xerox. Jeffrey received his MBA from the Harvard Business School, an MSEE from Syracuse University and a BSEE from Northwestern University. Jeffrey serves on the Board of Trustees for the Museum of Science in Boston.

Bill Elmore, General Partner and Founder - Foundation Capital

Bill Elmore has vast experience in venture capital and the technology sector. He started Foundation Capital in 1995 after serving as a general partner at Inman & Bowman for eight years. Bill also served as president of visual engineering and in a variety of key marketing management roles at Hewlett-Packard.

He is the director and past president of the Western Association for Venture Capitalists and performed admirably as the director of the National Venture Capital Association. He is actively involved in defining, serving and representing the interests of the venture capital and private equity industries.

Bill holds a BSEE and MSEE from Purdue University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Warren Weiss, General Partner - Foundation Capital

Warren Weiss is a seasoned executive with much practical experience. Warren joined Foundation Capital with over 25 years experience acting as president and CEO of four public and private software companies. Most recently, he served as president and CEO for Asera. Prior to Asera, he was oversaw major company growth while president and CEO of Prism Solutions.

Other experience includes acting as president of SQRIBE Technologies (now Brio Technologies) and president and CEO of Strategic Mapping, Inc. (SMI). In addition, Warren has held executive positions at Next Software, Continuum and Dun & Bradstreet Software.

Warren holds a BS from Western Illinois University.
